Balanced Diet
This one may seem like an obvious one but it is one that no one seems to stick to. It’s OK to splurge out on that big meal at the weekend or a takeaway on a Friday night, so long as you aren’t making a nightly habit of it and eat well the rest of the time. Don’t beat yourself up for having a chocolate bar after you’ve dinner. Its all about balance!
Variety in Your Diet
This is also crucial, there is a better way to go about clean eating other that having a bowl full of greenery. Each day you should trying to eat a variety of food groups; carbohydrates, protein, vegetables etc. This will also contribute to your balanced diet. Aiming to eat as many colours as possible (and we don’t mean skittles) should help you gain a variety of nutrients and benefits from different types of food.
Breakfast is the Most Important Meal of The Day
There is a reason this is said time and time again, it’s not an old wives tale this is an actual fact. Eating a good breakfast will help to release a slow burning energy throughout the day. Doing this will make you more alert and productive throughout the day. If you have been feeling sluggish or the effects of fatigue throughout the day then it could be down to skipping breakfast. When you skip breakfast you are also likely to eat something fast that may not be as good for you mid-morning before lunchtime.
Get a Good Nights Sleep
You will notice a major difference in your energy levels throughout the day if you get a decent nights sleep. It is recommended that you get a minimum of 8 hours sleep a night. When there aren’t enough hours in the day this can seem like a big ask but will be worth it the next day. How many hours sleep you get can also have a big impact on your mood. Nothing says bad mood like a lack of sleep.
Drink Water
Drinking enough water is a crucial part of any diet and is important to leading a healthy life. If you are currently drinking a lot of fruit or fizzy juice you should consider swapping these for water and keeping other drinks as more of a treat, as part of the balanced diet mentioned before.
